My Story

I am a native Portlander and life-long lover of all things Oregon. When I was 22, I did a road trip of the US for a year in search of something better and no place resonated with me like my home state of Oregon. I love her natural beauty, the people, great food and natural diversity of the state. In my spare time I love to travel, spend time in my garden, work on my house, write, paint and listen to podcasts. 

In choosing which architecture school to attend, I sought out the University of Oregon. The architecture program had at its foundation designing and building a space by starting with the inherit relationship between the environment, geography, culture and creating environments that inspire and nurture us. My designs and method of finding the right design solutions for each client are rooted in this idea. It requires me to be curious about my client's lives, dreams, goals and priorities.  My designs are all unique as they respond to each client's individual answers to these questions and my observations of them. I have worked for both large architecture firms and small to midsize residential focused companies.  Most recently I was at a local design-build firm here in Portland for 20 years before venturing out on my own. I love the design-build model due to its intrinsic nature of collaboration between client, designer and craftspeople. Seeing the fun and importance of communication and collaboration is at the core of Therese DuBravac Design. I look forward to meeting you and learning about your project.
